Data Management
Storage
The amount of information in the world is set to rise 44-fold in the next decade according to IDC, with much of that increase coming from the rise in cloud computing.
Two years ago, the IDC caused a stir when it revealed that the amount of data created outstripped the available global storage capacity.
Yet this is just the tipping point. If organisations believe that suffer from information overload now then they are in for a shock in the next few years. Data Management is seen by many as the next major IT headache for organisations. Growth in data will require new tool and technologies to access and control it. Currently most of the digital universe is unstructured data and this will need to change if organisations are to manage their data resources effectively.
The iomart Group is well placed to capitalise in this relatively new market of data storage, having invested heavily in a new virtualised SAN (Storage Area Network) architecture, which extends the Group's 'no single point of failure promise' out from the network to storage systems.
Utilising the Group's own network of UK data centres, iomart can offer its clients the security of knowing that their data is automatically mirrored and protected across separate geographical locations.
This provides a perfect example of the Group being able to respond to market needs through the use of its own core infrastructure.
